U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer Jose A. Santana passed away on December 2, 2020. The circumstances of his passing were reviewed by an executive panel and the CBP Commissioner who agreed that his death occurred in the line of duty. Officer Santana will be remembered for his diligent service to the nation and for his bravery in the face of danger.
CBP Officer Santana served at the Laredo,Texas Port of Entry. He started his CBP career on March 17, 2008 and was assigned to Passenger Processing Operations for most of his career. Prior to beginning his CBP career, Officer Santana proudly served as a patrol officer with the Laredo Police Department from 2002 to 2008. After high school, Officer Santana attended Laredo Community College on a baseball scholarship where he was an outstanding pitcher and first baseman for the Palominos.
Officer Santana is survived by his wife, a daughter, his parents, and two siblings.
