Special Agent Robert Mayer

Special Agent Robert Allan Mayer Jr. passed away on January 31, 2021. The circumstances of his passing were reviewed by an executive panel and the CBP Commissioner who agreed that his death occurred in the line of duty. Special Agent Mayer will be remembered for his diligent service to the nation and for his bravery in the face of danger.

Special Agent Mayer joined the CBP Office of Professional Responsibility in Del Rio, Texas in October 2019. Prior to joining OPR, he was a special agent with legacy U.S. Customs Service and Homeland Security Investigations from 2002 to 2019. Special Agent Mayer began his law enforcement career as a Val Verde sheriff’s deputy in Del Rio, Texas where he served from 1993 to 2002.

Special Agent Mayer was a native of Del Rio, Texas, and served his entire law enforcement career in the Del Rio area. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and his mother.
