CBP Maintenance Mechanic Rodolfo Morales Jr. passed away on February 5, 2021. The circumstances of his passing were reviewed by an executive panel and the CBP Commissioner who determined that this death occurred in the line of duty. Mr. Morales will be remembered for his diligent service to the nation and for his bravery in the face of danger.
Mr. Morales started his CBP career on September 2, 2018, and most recently served as a maintenance mechanic in El Paso, Texas. Prior to joining CBP, he was the lead Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Escalator and Elevator technician for Dillard’s department stores in the El Paso, Texas, and Las Cruces, New Mexico. He also served with the City of El Paso and the El Paso Independent School District as an HVAC technician. Aside from spending time with his family, he volunteered with the Texas Ramps Project, El Paso chapter, fabricating and constructing accessibility ramps for low-income families with limited mobility or access challenges.
Mr. Morales is survived by his wife, four children, five grandchildren, and four siblings.
