U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer Roel De La Fuente passed away on July 13, 2020. The circumstances were reviewed by an executive panel and the CBP Commissioner who agreed that this death occurred in the line of duty. Officer De La Fuente will be remembered for his diligent service to the nation and for his bravery in the face of danger.
CBPO De La Fuente was stationed at the Hidalgo, TX Port of Entry, assigned to the Pharr Commercial Facility. He started his CBP career on August 26, 2001 as an Immigration Inspector at the Port of Hidalgo. CBPO De La Fuente graduated from Immigration Officer Basic Training Class (IOBTC) Session 412 on November 29, 2001 and was known by his peers as always cheerful, helpful and joyous to his fellow man. His smile and good heart will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
