YUMA, Ariz. — Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents from the Wellton Station working at the immigration checkpoint on Interstate 8 west of Yuma arrested two Arizona women early Sunday for alien smuggling.

After a Border Patrol canine alerted to an odor it was trained to detect, coming from a Nissan Altima, agents referred the two women for a secondary inspection. Once in secondary, agents found two male Mexican nationals locked in the vehicle’s trunk.

Agents arrested the women for alien smuggling. The two men found in the trunk were processed for illegal entry into the United States. The case was then turned over to Homeland Security investigators.
