BP Agents Don’t Skip a Beat, Seize 67 lbs. of Meth Smuggled in a Speaker

TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Border Patrol agents working the Interstate 19 Immigration Checkpoint near Amado arrested a woman transporting crystal meth in a stereo speaker box in her vehicle Thursday afternoon.

Tucson Sector agents encountered a 19-year-old U.S. citizen female when she entered the checkpoint driving a 2007 Pontiac sedan. After a canine alerted to the vehicle, agents conducted a secondary inspection, discovering more than 67 pounds of meth hidden inside an aftermarket speaker located in the trunk.

Agents seized the meth and vehicle. The woman was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations.

An after market audio speaker was found to have 67 pounds of meth hidden it. A 19-year-old American female was arrested for the drug smuggling attempt.
