The apprehension occurred on Sunday, June 28 at the Del Rio Port of Entry after Damian Edward Hernandez, a 21-year-old U.S. citizen, arrived as a passenger in a 1997 black Ford Ranger. CBP officers referred the vehicle for a secondary inspection. During the examination, CBP officers referencing national law enforcement databases discovered that Hernandez had an outstanding felony warrant for Indecency with a Child out of the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office in San Antonio, Texas.

CBP officers confirmed the identity of the passenger utilizing biometric systems and the Del Rio Police Department took custody of Hernandez pending extradition to Bexar County.

National Crime Information Center (NCIC) is a centralized automated database designed to share information among law enforcement agencies including outstanding warrants for a wide range of offenses. Based on information from NCIC, CBP officers have made numerous arrests of individuals wanted for homicide, escape, money laundering, robbery, narcotics distribution, sexual child abuse, fraud, larceny, and military desertion.

Charges and allegations contained in criminal complaints are merely accusations.  Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
