CBP Ports in the Buffalo Field Office See 4,000% Increase

BUFFALO, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) ports within the Buffalo Field Office have seen a significant increase in drug seizures since border restrictions went into effect on March 21.

CBP employees within the Buffalo Field Office, Office of Field Operations, have seized a variety of illicit drugs in commercial shipments and passenger vehicles, from March 21 through June 14. The Buffalo Field Office, which covers 16 ports of entry throughout New York State, made 286 seizures totaling over 8,700 pounds of narcotics. In comparison to the same time frame last year, ports had 549 seizures totaling more than 216 pounds of narcotics. That’s an increase of over 4,000%.
