Laredo Sector Border Patrol halted a human smuggling attempt

LAREDO, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents working at the I-35 checkpoint halted a human smuggling attempt.

 On April 12, Border Patrol agents encountered a tractor-trailer at the primary inspection lane were a Service canine alerted to the vehicle. The tractor-trailer was referred for secondary inspection where agents conducted a thorough inspection of the tractor cab. Border Patrol agents discovered 17 individuals concealed inside.

Record checks revealed that all of the individuals were in the country illegally from Mexico and Guatemala. The undocumented individuals were processed accordingly. The driver will be prosecuted for human smuggling.
