LAREDO, Texas – With the holiday spirit in the air, the Laredo Sector Border Patrol held its Youth of the Month event at the St. Augustine High School on Wednesday, December 12. At a ceremony for the December 2018 honorees, Border Patrol along with community partners presented seniors from eleven Laredo high schools with the prestigious Youth of the Month Award.
Laredo Sector Executive Officer Jaime Fierro offered the following advice, “Be determined and continue to set your sights on your goals. Be capable, never let anyone tell you that you can’t achieve your goal. Be humble, never allow your intellect or achievement make you believe that you are better than others. Be compassionate, understand that with the gifts you have been given that you have a responsibility to help your fellow man. And lastly, never allow anyone to change the real you. Keep striving to be the best you.”

December 2018 Youth of the Month honorees.
The Border Patrol Youth of the Month program has recognized Laredo’s top high school seniors for 30 years. Together, with the collaboration of program partners, one student is selected each month from Laredo-area high schools as Border Patrol Youth of the Month. At the end of the school year, eleven Youth of the Month recipients are considered for the prestigious Border Patrol Youth of the Year award.
