Laredo Sector Border Patrol Seizes Over 1,400 lbs of Marijuana

LAREDO, Texas – Several events during this week resulted in Border Patrol agents from the Laredo Sector seizing over 1,000 pounds of marijuana in Laredo, Texas. 

The first seizure took place on July 10, 2017, after Border Patrol agents seized 239.6 pounds of marijuana in Laredo, Texas.  Agents responding to suspicious activity observed several subjects loading bundles into a vehicle near Camp Street.  When agents approached the subjects, they absconded back to Mexico.  A search of the vehicle revealed three bundles of marijuana with the estimated value of $191,760.00.  No arrests were made.

The second seizure took place on July 13, 2017, after Border Patrol agents seized 341.44 pounds of marijuana in Laredo, Texas.  Agents responding to suspicious activity observed five bundles of marijuana abandoned in the brush near Mines Road.  No arrests were made.  The estimated value of the marijuana was $273,688.00. 

The third seizure took place later that afternoon, after Border Patrol agents seized 365.53 pounds of marijuana in Laredo, Texas.  Agents responding to suspicious activity observed several subjects with bundles near Riverside Road.  When agents approached the subjects, they dropped the bundles and absconded back to Mexico.  The estimated value of the marijuana was $292,424.00.  Three subjects from the country of Mexico were arrested. 

The fourth seizure took place later that evening, after Border Patrol agents seized 516.9 pounds of marijuana in Laredo, Texas.  Agents responding to suspicious activity observed several subjects with bundles near Riverside Road.  When agents approached the subjects, they dropped the bundles and absconded back to Mexico.  The estimated value of the marijuana was $413,520.00  No arrests were made.
