Lost Illegal Aliens Rescued by Border Patrol Agents Within 24 Hours in Three Separate Events

OCOTILLO, Calif.- U.S. Border Patrol agents from El Cento Sector rescued three illegal aliens within 24 hours’ time near Jacumba Wilderness region near Ocotillo.

The first incident occurred Sunday afternoon at approximately 1:15 p.m., when El Centro Sector Communications Dispatch notified EL Centro Station agents of a distress call made by an individual who illegally crossed the international boundary between Mexico/United States in the mountainous region 22 miles west of Calexico. The illegal alien called 9-1-1 and stated that he was lost and injured. Agents performing their assigned duties in the area responded to the location to begin searching for the man. A helicopter unit also responded to the call and assisted in the search.  At approximately 2:38 p.m., agents located the lost adult male, a national of Mexico, and provided him with water. 

The second incident occurred Monday morning at approximately 8:46 a.m., when El Centro Sector Communications Dispatch notified El Centro Station agents of a distress call made by an individual who was also lost. At approximately 9:38 a.m., agents located the lost adult male, a national of Mexico, and provided him with water.

The third incident occurred Monday morning at approximately 10:35 a.m., when El Centro Sector Foreign Operations Branch (FOB) notified El Centro Station, that they had received information from San Diego Sectors’ FOB, of an individual lost and in distress in the mountains approximately 22 miles west of Calexico. At approximately 10.51 a.m., agents located the lost adult male, a national of Mexico, and provided him with water.

All three rescued illegal aliens were assessed, and no medical attention was required.

Agents transported the illegal aliens to the El Centro Processing Center for further processing.

The illegal aliens are being held in federal custody pending removal back to Mexico.

In fiscal year 2021, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have successfully rescued 95 individuals lost or in distress.
