EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley continue to encounter criminal aliens, gang members and wanted subjects during patrol.
Early Friday morning, agents arrested a Honduran man who illegally entered the United States near Hidalgo, Texas. During processing, record checks revealed an active warrant of arrest out of Brockton, Massachusetts for rape of a child with force.
Later that day, agents foiled a smuggling attempt of five illegal aliens near Bentsen State Park. During processing, agents discovered one of the illegal aliens had an active warrant from the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office for multiple sex offenses against a child and a warrant from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office for robbery.
That evening, McAllen agents arrested a confirmed Sureño gang member. Additionally, the Mexican man’s record checks revealed a previous conviction for unlawful transport of firearms.
Just before midnight, agents intercepted a group of six illegal aliens near Mission, Texas. During processing, agents discovered one of the subjects is a United States citizen with an active warrant in Bergen County, New Jersey for a weapons offense and enticing a minor for indecent purposes.
On Sunday, Fort Brown agents arrested a Salvadoran man near Port Isabel, Texas, whose record checks confirmed is an MS-13 gang member.
Later that afternoon, agents apprehended two Mexican men near Falcon Heights, Texas. During processing, the men admitted their affiliation with the Gulf Cartel and stated they had just been involved in a gun battle south of Falcon Heights earlier in the day, prior crossing into the United States.
The Border Patrol is processing the subjects accordingly.
