Trade and tourism are important economic drivers for Tucson, and they depend on the safe and efficient flow of goods and people across borders. The expanded Port of Nogales (Mariposa Crossing) can only function at full capacity with adequate staffing, yet Arizona currently has 170 unfilled positions for Customs Officers.

To help fill these positions, Mayor Rothschild offered to host a job fair. November 9th, the Tucson Police Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Tucson Fire Department will hold a job fair at Pima Community College Downtown Campus, Amethyst Room, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A flyer for the event is attached. (The Tucson Fire Department joined the event after the flyer was created.)

"Both TPD and U.S. CBP offer excellent opportunities for folks interested in law enforcement, and I hope many veterans will apply," said Mayor Rothschild. "Trade and tourism are two of the Five T's of our local economy, so it's important for Tucson and the rest of the state that we have adequate staffing at our border ports of entry to safely expedite the flow of goods and people."

Where: Pima Community College Downtown Campus, Amethyst Room, 1255 N Stone Ave, Tucson, AZ

When: Monday, November 9, 2015; job fair runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mayor Rothschild will be make welcoming remarks at 11 a.m., media is encouraged to arrive by 10:30.
