Tucson Woman Arrested at I-19 Immigration Checkpoint

TUCSON, Ariz. – Nogales Station Border Patrol agents assigned to the Interstate 19 immigration checkpoint near Arivaca arrested a 57-year-old Tucson woman Monday evening for transporting an undocumented Mexican woman in her vehicle.

A Border Patrol agent conducting immigration inspections at the primary vehicle lane questioned the two female occupants of a 2017 Ford Fiesta and subsequently referred them for a secondary inspection. During further questioning, agents identified the passenger as a 27-year-old Mexican national illegally present in the country.

Agents arrested the driver, a U.S. citizen, for human smuggling and are processing the passenger for immigration violations in accordance with Tucson Sector guidelines.
