Along with local Border Patrol Agents, Fire and EMS, New Mexico State Forestry, Hidalgo Sheriff’s Department, and Hidalgo Medical Services demonstrated a variety of equipment to include the Border Patrol’s all-terrain vehicles (ATV’s) and horses, routinely used while performing their duties.  Many third grade students enjoyed the demonstrations and interacted with mascots from the U. S. Border Patrol, Agent F.I.N.O. (Failure is Never an Option) and the Forest Service’s Smokey Bear.

The agents emphasized the importance of general safety, gave examples when riding horses, ATVs, and important precautions they take daily to remain safe in their remote environment.
