Baudette, Minn – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Warroad Station seize boat and detain four individuals in Baudette, Minnesota.

On October 4, Customs and Border Protection officers (CBPO) at the Baudette Port of Entry encountered individuals who were presenting themselves for admission into the United States.  The CBPOs noted suspicious behavior and alerted local law enforcement, as well as Warroad Border Patrol agents in the area.  Agents and a Lake of the Woods County Sheriff’s Deputy encountered the individuals at a public boat launch in Baudette, Minnesota loading a boat onto a trailer.  Through questioning it was determined that two of the subjects had entered the United States illegally from Canada in the boat without reporting their entry.

The owner/operator and passenger of the vessel whom are United States citizens were cited for violation of 19 USC 1436 and 19 USC 1433 (Failure to Report Arrival into the United States), which could result in a $5000.00 fine each.  The vessel and trailer used in violation of the law were seized.

“This is fine example of CBP and its law enforcement partners working together to secure the border” said Warroad Station Patrol Agent in Charge Robert Tuttle.
