CBP is planning to construct approximately 2.5 miles of new border barrier in San Diego County, California. Consistent with section 102(b)(1)(C) of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA) of 1996, as amended, 8 U.S.C. § 1103 note, CBP seeks input on the project’s potential impacts to the environment, cultural, quality of life and commerce, including socioeconomic impacts.
The planned actions include:
- The construction and maintenance of approximately 2.1 miles of new border barrier west of the Jacumba Hot Springs area in southeastern San Diego County, California.
- The construction and maintenance of approximately 0.4 miles of new border barrier, approximately 3.2 miles east of the Otay Mesa Port of Entry in San Diego County, California.
CBP will be accepting comments and information until May 8, 2025. Helpful comments are fact-based, include links to data or research, and provide specific information concerning potential impacts. If you are providing a comment about a specific area, please specify that in your comment.
