BPA Freddy Ortiz

Border Patrol Agent Ortiz responded to an illegal crossing observed by Douglas, Arizona Border Patrol Station camera operators on the evening of November 14, 2023.  A few minutes later, Agent Ortiz was involved in a single all-terrain vehicle accident near the Douglas, Arizona Port of Entry.  He was found unresponsive and was transported to the local area hospital.  Agent Ortiz never regained consciousness and succumbed to his injuries.

Agent Ortiz began his career with U.S. Customs and Border Protection in September 2010 and was assigned to Douglas, Arizona Border Patrol Station. Agent Ortiz was a distinguished 24-year veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserves, where he received many achievement awards, medals, and service ribbons.  Agent Ortiz is survived by his parents and sister.
