U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer Genaro Guerrero passed away on February 15, 2021. The circumstances of his passing were reviewed by an executive panel and the CBP Commissioner who agreed that his death occurred in the line of duty. CBPO Guerrero will be remembered for his diligent service to the nation and for his bravery in the face of danger.
Officer Guerrero was assigned to the San Ysidro, California Port of Entry where he had served since beginning his CBP career on April 18, 2005. He most recently served as a tactical officer in support of the Anti-Terrorism and Contraband Enforcement Team, joining this team on June 21, 2020.
Prior to his CBP service, Officer Guerrero served as a deputy sheriff for San Diego County from 1980-1995 and as a security guard for the General Services Administration at the San
Ysidro Port of Entry from 1995-2005. He is survived by his wife and four children.
