On November 20, 2024, Office of Chief Counsel Attorney Jacob A. Raines died while on a mandatory training assignment at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia. He was found unresponsive in front of Building 94 and never regained consciousness.
Attorney Raines began his career with U.S. Customs and Border Protection on July 14, 2024. He had previously served with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Social Security Administration, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Attorney Raines is survived by his mother, father, and sister.
