Remote Video Surveillance System Upgrade Program

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Technology Innovation and Acquisition (OTIA) announced that a final Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Remote Video Surveillance System (RVSS) Upgrade Program and associated Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) have been prepared and are now available for public review.

The final EA documents a review of the potential environmental effects associated with the construction, operation, and maintenance of 20 RVSS towers and an upgrade of command and control facilities in the United States Border Patrol Yuma, Ajo, Nogales, Naco, and Douglas Stations' Area of Operation. On the basis of the findings of the EA, a determination was made that the proposed action will not significantly impact the quality of the human or natural environment - either individually or cumulatively; therefore, there is no requirement to develop an Environmental Impact Statement and a FONSI was issued.
