U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Technology Innovation and Acquisition (OTIA) announced that a final Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Integrated Fixed Towers (IFTs) and associated Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) have been prepared and are now available for public review.
The final EA documents a review of the potential environmental effects associated with the construction, operation, and maintenance of 10 IFT tower sites and the retrofit of two existing towers in United States Border Patrol's Douglas Station Area of Operation. Based on the final EA, a determination was made that the proposed action will not significantly impact the quality of the human or natural environment - either individually, or cumulatively; therefore, there is no requirement to develop an Environmental Impact Statement and a FONSI was issued.
