EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector (RGV) agents arrested two previously convicted sex offenders and two gang members.
On March 15, McAllen Border Patrol Station agents apprehended a Salvadoran national whose record checks revealed he is a Mara-Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member with no previous arrests in the U.S.
On March 16,a Mexican national was identified as a convicted sex offender during processing at the Fort Brown Border Patrol Station. In 2009, the 36-year-old migrant was arrested by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office for rape of a child. He was sentenced to 12 months and one day imprisonment and was subsequently removed from the United States.
On March 17, Harlingen Border Patrol Station agents apprehended four migrants in Los Indios, Texas and transported them to the station for processing. Records checks revealed a Salvadoran national was sentenced to one and half years’ probation for sexual battery in Jasper, Indiana in 2008. He was subsequently removed from the United States in 2009.
Later that morning, RGV agents apprehended a group of migrants at a stash house in McAllen, Texas. Among the group was a 24-year-old male from El Salvador whose records checks revealed he is a MS-13 gang member with a prior removal from the United States in 2016.
All subjects were processed accordingly.
