CBP Officers at Hidalgo Arrest Homicide Fugitive

HIDALGO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Hidalgo International Bridge apprehended Christopher Shane Anangos, a male United States citizen from Alabama who had an arrest warrant for homicide (vehicular manslaughter).

“CBP Field Operations is always ready to assist our law enforcement partners in locating those wanted persons with outstanding warrants,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/ Anzalduas.

On Oct. 13, 2021, officers with U.S. Marshals Service arrived to the Port of Hidalgo and requested assistance to take custody of Christopher Shane Anangos who is wanted for homicide (vehicular manslaughter). The 47-year-old man was apprehended by Mexican authorities as he attempted to travel into Mexico. CBP officers took custody of Mr. Anangos at the U.S./Mexico boundary. Once in the secondary area, biometric verification confirmed his identity and the outstanding felony arrest warrant out of Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Birmingham, Alabama. The warrant is for homicide (vehicular manslaughter), a first-degree felony.

A Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived to take custody of Anangos and transported him to the county jail to await transport to Alabama.

Criminal charges are merely allegations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
