LAREDO, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents, working with Laredo Police Department (LPD), shuts down a stash house in west Laredo.
The incident occurred in the late morning of March 13, when Laredo North agents responded to a call for assistance from Laredo Police Department (LPD) officers regarding a possible stash house in west Laredo. Agents arrived at the scene and took into custody 36 individuals who were identified as being illegally present in the United States. The individuals are from the countries of Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador.
None of the individuals that were taken into custody were wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) when found. The individuals were provided PPE and were medically screened. With a noted increase in COVID-19 infections, human smugglers continue to place individuals in close quarters without PPE. This not only endangers the people being smuggled, but the safety of our Nation.
