SAN DIEGO – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the San Ysidro Port of Entry Sunday apprehended two U.S. citizen males with outstanding felony warrants, one for attempted homicide and the other for a sex offense.
The first arrest occurred at about 8:45 a.m., when Giovanni Viera, 26, entered the San Ysidro border crossing on foot. CBP officers ran his name through law enforcement databases and discovered he was wanted for attempted homicide by the San Diego Sheriff’s Office.
CBP officers confirmed Viera had an outstanding felony warrant for attempted homicide out of San Diego County. Viera was processed and transported to the San Diego County Jail for further processing and disposition.
Later that day at approximately 6 p.m., Daniel Ignacio Jr. Perez, 26, entered the San Ysidro Port of Entry driving a 2013 Ford Explorer. A CBP officer ran the man’s name through law enforcement databases and discovered he was wanted. The man and the vehicle were escorted to a secure location for further inspection.
CBP officers confirmed that Perez had an active felony warrant for sex offense crimes with a minor from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office with bail set at $2 million. CBP officers transported and booked Perez into the San Diego County Jail.
