Weslaco Border Patrol is seeking
applicants for its upcoming Citizen's
Academy

The Weslaco Station’s Border Community Liaison (BCL) Team will kick off their Citizen’s Academy class on Thursday, August 16, 2018. Academy classes consist of participants from all walks of life, reflecting our diverse community. The citizen’s academy is a five-week course that allows participants to immerse themselves in the day-to-day operations of Border Patrol agents.

Students will walk trails and be side-by-side line agents working along the banks of the Rio Grande. Exposure to the harsh terrain, high humidity, and grueling temperatures of South Texas will be an eye-opening experience for the class and provide an opportunity to gain a new appreciation for the work agents do to secure our borders.

Additional training and presentations include use of force scenarios, horse patrol demonstrations, and a Border Patrol’s Search Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR) orientation.

The Weslaco BCL Team is currently taking applications from citizens who would like to participate in this educational academy. Please contact Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Rafael Tovar for more information at (956) 647-8818.
