CBP Publishes Federal Register Notice – Proposing Revisions to CBP Form 5106

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is proposing to revise CBP Form 5106 (Importer ID Input Record).

CBP previously solicited comments on the proposed revisions to Form 5106 in a 60-day FRN published on October 9, 2014 (Volume 79, Page 61091).  27 comments were received and a comment summary and response was completed by CBP.

The most recent version of the proposed Form 5106 includes revisions that were made based on comments that were received on the 60-day FRN.

CBP also proposes to rename the CBP form 5106; it is suggested that the CBP Form 5106 no longer be named, “Importer ID Input Record” and recommends that it be renamed “Create/Update Importer Identity Form.”  The purpose of the name change is to make the form’s purpose clearer to respondents.
