Border Interagency Executive Council (BIEC) Principals & Working Level

A cargo ship that reads: Border Interagency Executive Council (BIEC) Principals & Working Level

BIEC Principals

The BIEC is chaired by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The BIEC selects a Principal to serve as Vice Chair on a two-year rotation.

BIEC Principals are Senior Executive Service (SES) level representatives or Political Appointees from each BIEC Partner Government Agency (PGA). The BIEC Principals are responsible for identifying BIEC priorities and initiatives and approving key decisions. Additionally, they are responsible for identifying and delegating agency representatives to participate at the Working Level. The BIEC Principals convene on a tri-annual basis.

BIEC Working Level

The BIEC working level consists of agency staff representatives from each PGA and work collaboratively to deliver solutions and make recommendations to the Principals on key BIEC priority initiatives. Working Level members are responsible for attending Working Level meetings, joining or co-leading relevant working groups, and informing their agency's Principal of working level priorities.
